Hello from "Hurricane Alley"!

I'm back, and we're OK! My town/neighborhood looks like a war zone, but we'll get through. Today is the first day we have mail, trash pick-up,POWER! ( well, on my side of the street we do lol!) Jeanne was a rough ride, let me tell you! Sounded like a freight train driving over your house for 8 hours!!!! I am truly surprised that my house is still standing, let alone semi-intact! ( lost a few roof tiles, but nothing major!) Props to my brother-in-law, since he built this house for us, he obviously knows what he's doing!
I tried to get some pictures of the storm from my back porch door to show you all, but since the worst of her came over in the middle of the night, combined with the fact that I did NOT want to stick my head or my camera out far enough to have the flash be of any good, none of them really came out! ( I assume you all saw something about it on the news- Believe it!) I will tell you that the song that kept running through my head was " I am a rock" by Simon and Garfunkel. We had flooding in the back yard that came up to 4 ft. from my back door, and the street in front was submerged in about 3 ft of water as well! It has since drained off- but it was wild to see fish swimming down my street for a few hours! (I'm NOT lying, ask my kids!!!)
Hopefully, this will be the LAST TIME I will have to share this subject with you all, I think Florida has had enough! And I'm sure you all are fed up with my posts on this subject, but since it HAS been MY world the last 5 weeks or so,well.....
Back to more pleasant posts ( Please!!!! ) and catching up on all I've missed. It doesn't seem to be much, but when you don't have a link to the "outside" world for a few days- It seems like years! Thanks for you support, and I will try to get back to that for which this blog was named!! Woohoo See you around the 'net! Peace KC

Ready, Set- BLOW!!!

Well, we're ready. Have boards, ice water and flashlights. Not much else to do but wait and worry. Even Gov. Jeb is getting tired of this, he keeps mixing up the storm names! Well at least he still has a sense of humor about this.
It's amazing to me how people around here are handling things. When my boss showed up with the wood, several of our neighbors came over with screwdrivers to help board us up. We haven't really gotten to know them, most have recently moved in. It's nice to know that people are still good at heart (for the most part) I will have to get to know them better, perhaps I've been missing out.
I have about 3-4 hours before the heavy winds and rain hit,and we will probably loose power again. Take care you all, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Peace! Goodbye KC

A Prince!

Among men! That's how I would describe my boss Tom. I've been at Walgreens for 22 years, and I've had some doozies, But Tom is the best- no lie!
Let me explain: You all know what we've been through the last month or so. Yesterday, Tom asked me if we were going to stay or leave. I said stay, even though we had no boards for the windows (S.O.P. in Hurricanes- watch the news reports!) He said- "You can't do that KC! We have some spares! Long story short- this morning he's going to 2 friends houses ( to get "spare" boards) and comming here by noon to help Hubby board us up! He has a wife and 3 kids, just like me. But he can't stand to "worry about us all night" ( his words!)
To Thomas Nelson ( who calls me "lady Leppard"- Yea, he knows!) YOU ROCK DUDE!

Oh Heck!

Here goes another weekend, shot to hell! What did Florida do to deserve this??? Hurricane Jeanne is bearing down, right now aiming for slightly ( about 15 miles ) south of me! Damn, but I'm soooo tired of this! As it stands now, we are staying put, but if she strengthens- I don't know.
Ivan- Hummmm, my daughter said it best ( "Just die already!!!") Take care those of you in his path, he seems to like to dump massive quantities of water. Bone up on you backstrokes!
I will be around, maybe online. It seems that with each storm I lose a little more energy. I just hope that we don't loose power again. I was informed that there are NO transformers left, and electric companies are hard up for basic supplies. Oh well- off to have a cold one, and take my mind on the comming storm.

Peace ( and sunshine!!) KC Waiting

Thoughts for you all

While I am sitting here waiting for the plumber to come ( yes, moved it up a day- can't stand bailing lol) I wandered to the OF, and was reading the various posts on the up-comming "vault re-release". I finally shared my thoughts on the matter-- what do you think, Am I right, or just blowing smoke???
I wrote:
Interesting points all! I'm not sure how I feel about the upcomming "reissue" either, but some points stand out ( to me anyway lol)
1- this seems to be the record company's idea- not the bands! Phil was quoted as saying that he thought this was "flogging a dead horse", and he wasn't even part of it. So either Island has something up their collective sleeve's ( possibly "priming the pump" for a new release?) or they are , as other' s have said- milking the "cash cow".
2- The band just came off tour last November! This band has never been known for the yearly album/tour route- what makes us think they'd start that NOW??!
3- Rick & Lauren, Joe & Kristine- both just got married! Both Sav and Vivian have YOUNG kids at home. These guys are not as " foot-loose" and free as they once were. They have REAL reasons to spend some time home with loved ones now ( which is a great thing IMHO) So to think they are not going to do so is just not fair to them- or their families.
4- Joe has stated, and we all heard it - "there will be a next time!" So those of the "doom & gloom" mind-set: take a deep breath! I seriously doubt this is any kind of a harbinger of the demise of the band.
I am a huge fan and I have faith that they will go on. Rumors and speculation have always happened- just don't let them get to you! Will I buy the new Vault- probably. My old one is pretty worn out anyway ( thanks to my kids!) But I refuse to give up hope! JMHO- Off my soapbox now! Peace, KC
Comments anyone?? Ponder

Ok, one more

This one I think is better!
elf
You are Form 6, Elfin: The Wyld.

"And The Elfin saw the evil and
misjudgement in the world and shot her arrow at
the sky. Bolts of lightning struck the earth
and gave the world balance and
growth."

Some examples of the Elfin Form are Demeter (Greek)
and Khepry (Egyptian).
The Elfin is associated with the concept of growth
and balance, the number 6, and the element of
water.
Her sign is the half moon.

As a member of Form 6, you are a very balanced
individual. You can easily adapt to most
situations and you may be a good social
chameleon. You aren't afraid of changes in
your life, but sometimes you evolve too
rapidly, leaving others to think that you are
leaving them behind. Elfin are the best
friends to have because they are open minded.

Ok, I'll bite....

Another quiz- I don'tknow about this one???
The Moon Card
You are the Moon card. Entering the Moon we enter
the intuitive and psychic realms. This is the
stuff dreams are made on. And like dreams the
imagery we find here may inspire us or torment
us. Understanding the moon requires looking
within. Our own bodily rhythms are echoed in
this luminary that circles the earth every
month and reflects the sun in its progress.
Listening to those rhythms may produce visions
and lead you towards insight. The Moon is a
force that has legends attached to it. It
carries with it both romance and insanity.
Moonlight reveals itself as an illusion and it
is only those willing to work with the force of
dreams that are able to withstand this
reflective light. Image from: Stevee Postman.

Frustration!

Hi all! Well, you all know I've said before that Sunday's are house cleaning days. Since this is the first chance I've had in 2 & 1/2 weeks ( due to Frances ) to get a proper-days work in- I got primed and started. That's when all Hell broke loose!
I actually got all the kids to pick up, and started to vacuum. About half way through the livingroom, I noticed that the darn thing wasn't picking up!( I have one of those bagless Hoovers)Got out the screwdriver, pulled the bottom apart and found a clog- not problem, right? Cleaned it out, then continued. Oh crap, it's not working again! I ended up having to take the Hoover almost completely apart to find the main clog- PITA! I feel now I have a new career as a vacuum repair person!
Off to the kitchen, and lo and behold, the sink is not draining!! ARRGGHHHHH! Murphy, get out of my house! Now I'm sitting on my kitchen floor, with the pipes off, snake in hand trying to get the thing to work. I AM NOT A PLUMBER!!!!!! I guess the money I saved up last month is going to go to a professional, 'cause I ended up bailing the sink out last nite after "doing" the dishes.
And where was hubby while all this was going on? Sitting at this thing reading his political websites! When I told him about the sink, he just said " call a plumber on Monday. Well, dear, and when is this guy supposed to show up? While I'm at work???????????? I swear I hate being the "handy" person in this house sometimes! At least he did get off his duff and mopped the floors. Oh well, that's what I get for trying to be "superwife"- I work the night shift today, so HE gets to bail out the sink- because the plumber is not comming until Wednesday!
I'll be glad to go to work- at least there I only have to do MY job!Pharmacist
Have a great day people! Peace, KC

Friends

Happy Friday !!

Real Friends

Are you tired of all those sissy "friendship" poems?

Well, here is a series of promises that really speak about true

friendship:

1. When you are sad - I will help get you drunk and plot revenge

against the sorry bastard or bitch who made you sad.

2. When you are blue - I will try to dislodge whatever is

choking you.
3. When you smile - I will know you finally got some sex.

4. When you are scared - I will rag on you about it every chance
I get so you will be brave.

5. When you are worried - I will tell you horrible stories about
how much worse it could be and to quit whining.

6. When you are confused - I will use little words.

7. When you are sick - Stay the hell away from me until you are

well again. I'll send you some good drugs but I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall - I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

Then I'll help you up.

9. And when you get tired of your crappy job I'll help you carry your stuff out the back door when you tell them to take this f---king job and shove it. All the time hoping you'll help me too.

This is my oath...I pledge it till the end.

Why, you may ask? Because you are my friend.

Remember: A good friend will help you move. A really good friend

will help you move a body.

Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel. Digging

OK, TOO much time on my hands

Does this sound like me or what!!
KC, your sense of humor is Goofy Humor

You have your standards: They may be low, but at least you have them. Sure, subtle wit makes some people grin and say, "Now that's funny." But you know the Three Stooges makes people howl with laughter. It's the physical stuff, the poop jokes and funny voices, that get you going because you have a goofy sense of humor. You have no problem making a fool of yourself as long as your moves to "fake" a fall break the ice and make people feel comfortable.

Wit, sarcasm, and satire can get lost in the translation, but a whoopee cushion is universal. Yes, it may be lowbrow — heck, it may even be nobrow, but getting laughs is what matters to you. From ye old court jesters to the kids of South Park, you and your goofy sense of humor are in good company

I got this off Tickle.com, Oh well- I never said I was a "class act" hehehe Pie In Face

And to Summarize...

*Hopefully, the end of my weather posts for awhile. I realize it's big in my world, but not in you all's. However, this was sent by my friend Janine, and once again, she hit the nail on the head.

This is TERRIFIC!!!! So true!

Thirty things that Charley and Frances taught us.

1. An oak tree on the ground looks four times bigger than it did standing up

2. Even after all these years it is still nice to spend time with Cl.
Mustard in the ballroom with the lead pipe.

3. When house hunting look for closets with lots of leg room.

4. Water from the shower is much colder than water from the kitchen sink---
and tastes just as bad.

5. AA, C and D are the only alphabet we need ( batteries )

6. The four way stop is still an ingenious reflection of civility.

7. Radio can be the best way to watch television.

8. Chainsaw wielding men are nothing to be afraid of.

9. SUV's are the best makeshift tents on the market.

10. You can use your washing machine as a cooler.

11. It's your God given right to sit on your back porch and eat Chinese
takeout by candlelight in your underwear.

12. We shouldn't complain about "useless" tools in the garage-- we actually
DO need a generator

13. You can' t spell "priceless" without I-C-E.

14. Downed power lines make excellent security systems.

15. Lake Eola can generate waves.

16. Gasoline is a value at any price

17. Cell phones: Breaking up isn't hard to do.

18. The life blood of any disaster recovery is COFFEE

19. The need for your dog to go out and take care of business is inversely
proportional to the severity of the storm.

20. Candlelight is better than botox--- it takes years off your appearance

21. Air Conditioning: BEST. INVENTION. EVER.

22. Water is a comfort food. But 3 day old Cheetos are too.

23. Shadow animals on the wall---Still fun.

24. No matter how hard the wind blows, roadside campaign signs will survive.

25. You should never admit to having power at your house in the presence of
co workers or neighbors who do not.

26. There's a plus to having NOTHING in the refrigerator.

27. Getting through the day should be an Olympic event.

28. The movie theater can be a most pleasant place, even if the feature is
Alien vs. Predator

29. Somebody's got it worse.

30. Somebody's got it better. Obviously, they are getting preferential
treatment.

Day off tommorrow- so " I'll be back" Love to all, KC Soaking

Because i owe ya'all one!

OK- I know it's Sunday, but I hate making "promises I can't keep" so, better late than never! Cheers all !
JESUS' NATIONALITY . . . EVEN GOD ENJOYS A GOOD LAUGH

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black

1. He called everyone "brother"

2. He liked Gospel

3. He couldn't get a fair trial.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish

1. He went into His Father's business.

2. He lived at home until he was 33.

3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his mother was sure He was God.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian

1. He talked with his hands.

2. He had wine with every meal.

3. He used olive oil.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian

1. He never cut his hair.

2. He walked around barefoot all the time.

3. He started a new religion.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish

1. He never got married.

2. He was always telling stories.

3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all---3 proofs that Jesus was a woman

1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food.

2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it.

3. And even when he was dead, He had to get up because there was more

work to do.

What do you think Ladies- personally I agree with the last!! Have a nice evening: Peace! KC Peace Group

I'm BAAACCCKKKKK!!!

The most glorious event happened and around 5 pm today! We were sitting around the house ( reading, games, etc. ) and suddenly- THERE WAS LIGHT!!!!! Yes friends, Florida Power & Light, along with much help from our friends from Carolina L & P, had finally made it to my neigborhood! God, no more sleeping in your own sweat! No more after work "ice-hunting " parties! NO MORE BALONEY sandwiches! No more warm- bottled-water-drinks! I can't begin to tell you all what a pain life has been around the Fine house this past week.
As I stated, we decided to go to a local shelter. Central Middle School. What a bad decision. Now, please bear in mind that I have the utmost respect for the Red Cross! What they do is nothing short of amazing. But they had to contend with the officials that were there as representatives of the school, and this proved to be a major problem. If the R.C. people said yes, the school officials said no. There was no one person in charge of the shelter, and for the first 2 days, there was general chaos. And cramming 50 strangers into a classroom to sleep on a hard floor was not an easy task, let me tell you! I was glad when we finally could go home. Next time, I'll go to a hotel ( at least there I'll have a bed!)
Came home Sunday night, and thankfully the only thing wrong with our house was a few roof tiles missing ( 15 total) That's pretty good concidering some people had trees through roofs, whole porches ripped away ( next door!) and flooding. But all the food in the fridge had to be scrapped, and it was "Cooler-heaven" until today!
I sit here now thankful that when the power went on, all was restored ( even cable and phone!) So I can "see" you all again. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I didn't have it! I had 48 e-mails ( WOW!) and I will try to get back to those who took the time, but I have 10 days of info to catch up on! So.........
1- Congrats Joe and Kristine, may you have many happy days! ( same anniversary as mine- so I'm a little bias - great choice of a day though!)
2- DAMN_ NO R&R HALL OF FAME! Boo on those idiots- they wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the a**
3- Let's hope this new "vault" gets so much hype that it's scary!
Ok- that's it for now, everyone here wants a chance at this thing, and I can't blame them- hope to be back tommorrow! Peace, KC Waving

A Quick Note!

We have decided to stay in town and go to a shelter. We just couldn't see driving across state, since it would probably take us 3 times longer than normal, with 6 people crammed in the car. This way we can leave home later, and hopefully get home sooner.
I will unplug this thing tommorrow morning, so I'll be here to catch any e-mails, or messages until then. I will also have my cell phone with me in the shelter, so those of you I gave my number too can reach me if needed.
Bless you all for your support and good wishes. You all Rock! I hope to "see" you all soon!

Happy anniversary!

TO ME! Today marks 20 years that I put on the white dress and walked down the aisle! Who'd have thought it would last?? WOW!Shock 4
I was sitting here trying to think of something about the day, and one of the things I remembered ( I wonder why..lol) was that everyone teased us about having a "Hurricane" wedding, due to the date we picked. Prophetic or what? Even Mom tried to get us to change the date- knowing the possibilities. But no, I wanted to pick a date that would be easy to remember, and around a holiday weekend. That way, we could always get time off to do something to mark the day. I find it rather ironic that 20 years later, the predictions are about to come true!
I will let you all know, as best I can, how things fair down here. I have no doubt that we WILL lose power, and we have not decided where we will be during the storm. I will post when I know- and then will probably be offline for the duration, as I plan on taking my computer tower ( at least!) with us. It just has too much stuff on it to try to back-up ( music, video,FINANCIAL!).
I have finally heard from Loufunk, he is well, but very busy.( which is why he has not gotten back to me until now) He wished me well also. ( it was the weather reports that made him find ME- more irony!)
Take care, Have a good day. I will be back ( hopefully BEFORE the storm!) Love, as Always- KC Nervous 2
