Well, I'm here
If not entirely rested. Heck- I fell asleep at 8 last night, and I still feel like crap! But at least my legs aren't hurting today- so that's a good thing.
Work- well..... We've voted to have one of the girls from the "front" end come back and train. Her name is Karen also, and while she's a little "slow" on learning things, she's been around for 15+ years, and is not likely to leave anytime soon. She's also reliable- which is a big plus. So at least one of the "holes" have been filled, if not with someone who is knowledgeable. Now we need 2 more and things *should* get back to normal. At least until little Julie graduates from nursing school in May.
Home- I've managed to get some of the cleaning caught up. No- the Christmas stuff is still around, and that will have to wait until tomorrow or Sunday. But at least the livingroom is cleaned, the kitchen once again usable. And there are clean towels in the dryer ( I crashed before I could take them out to fold them- but they're clean and dry!)
The field trip with Kimmie was fun. I had taken my new camera, in the hopes of getting some cool pictures. But of course- one shot in and my batteries died! So I have to remember to pack replacements in the case for next time lol! It was a rainy/pissy day out yesterday. So I doubt the pictures would have been much anywho. Today is clear ( of course- I have to work!) but we're having a cold snap. Temps in the low 40's, wind chill in the 30's. And we're supposed to get worse next week. At least my AC is off for the time being!!!
Well, I'd better pack my lunch and get going. But first...... ;-)

Well, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...
Now the guy we hired last month, that was supposed to quit his old job and come to work with us full time gave his notice. He's been given a promotion at his old job, and chose to stay there. Not that I blame him, but that means we're down to Me, Christy and "little" Julie ( the tech- not the pharmacist) There is just NO WAY in the world we can staff the pharmacy with 3 techs!!! So much for my 32 hour weeks....* sigh*........
So we've been trying to get some "bodies", but believe it or not- it's not easy. Most that have applied give you the "I can't work nights/weekends/certain hours speil that can not be done while working in a retail setting. Or you mention the "drug-testing" and they run for cover. Why? Is everyone stoned/high/strungout anymore??? Is that the only people left without jobs?? We have one week left before the proverbial "shit" hits that spinning object, and I don't see any help in sight. Which means a couple of things.
1- That Journey concert trip is in serious jepardy. I can't take a weekend off when we don't have any staff to cover me.
2- Unless the "powers-that-be" get my insurance reinstated, the money will just not be there to go. Having to pay full $$ on my dr. visit, X-Ray and blood tests have seriously drained my budget.
So I think the Journey concert is a bust for me this time out. I really hate that- I was truly looking forward to going. The only way I could go is if my tax refund came in before then. And as neither Jon nor myself have gotten our W2's yet- that's not something I can count on.Turbo-tax may be fast- but it's not a miracle worker!!!
So here I sit in my scrubs, feet still hurting from yesterday. Heading out for yet another shift today. Tomorrow the field trip ( which will at least have me sitting more than standing- thank goodness!!!) and since I'll be home by 1:30pm, I should be able to get *some* rest tomorrow afternoon. That is, after I clean the kitchen, vacuum, pick up the scattered stuff the kids leave around, wash towels.........
Calgon- take me away! PLLLLEEEEEESSSSEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peace and Love,

You know what they say?
That no good deed goes unpunished? Well, seems as if it's happening to me. Because of the week I took off ( unpaid ) to take my Mother to my Aunt's funeral, my average hours at work dropped down to 29.75 per week. So corporate is trying to drop my medical insurance! ( they're averages on a 12 week cycle, so that's why this has just popped up- apparently!)
Mr P. is trying to argue with them against it, but I doubt they'll care. Which means that the family now has no medical insurance, and I won't be able to get any until September again! And before you ask- I could get insurance through Hubby's employer. But because it's a small business, the premiums are something like $800 a month! Which is way to steep for us to handle, really.
Having said that- Rae, Linda, Patti- or Andy & Becky for that matter- If any of you are reading this, don't mention anything to my Mom about it. It would just kill her to think she's to blame for this. I would not have changed a thing anyway- even if I knew ahead of time. And believe me- she'd blame herself big time!
Hell, it's still not written in stone, Mr. P is fighting it for me. I may just get a reprieve. Especially since he figured out that since I've been working so many hours the last couple of weeks, my average should jump up over the 33 hr. mark with the next pay period. He just has to convince them that a funeral ( that is not covered by normal company policy) is justification.
GO MR. P!!

Still don't have my life back. Between work, and my family- I'm lucky to get in some sleep time! And this week is my tests/Dr's visit, so the little time I get in the mornings is being spent running around. Shit!
They tried to hire a girl the other day, but she can only work nights. Which is not what we need. We have 2 other people already on staff that work nights because of school. We need a full-time day/weekend person. And to add to that- the one I told you all was leaving the first of Feb. has now told us her last day is THIS FRIDAY!!??? As a result- good 'ol KC is working 5 1/2 days next week, and that's only because the one day I have off is Kimmie's field trip that I'm chaperoning!! I know I've worked these kinds of hours before, but I'm just not up to it anymore. My house is a wreck, I'm too tired to get anything of substance done. About all I'm good for is sleep. On my feet, almost running flat out for 8 hours is not something this tired old lady wants to be doing. I almost fell asleep on my lunch break yesterday!
So I'm going to let them know I will not keep this up for long. I'll help out the next week or so- then I'm going back to 4 days/week. Perhaps that will motivate someone to hire new help? God- I hope so!
Just wanted to check in and let you know I'm still here. Dr. visit tomorrow- then straight to work. I'm still *supposed* to be off Friday, and with the kids back in school, looks like that's my next best bet to be here. Cross your fingers that we get some help!!!!!!!!!!!
Peace and Love, KC

I need my LIFE back!!!
Busier than a one legged man at that butt kicking contest! 2 people fired in the last couple of weeks ( both floaters/fill-ins) has caused me to work more hours than I have for 3 years! I know I'll be happy come pay-check time, but I'm just about shot energy-wise. Hopefully(??!!) next week I should be back to my normal workload. But I still have 2 mornings I have to go to the Dr.'s office ( tests one day- appointment the next) So time on here will be limited to say the least. Maybe I should steal Becky's laptop? Yeah, right! Like that's gonna happen- she's been guarding that thing like it's Ft. Knox!
I've been peeking in on all of you quickly in the mornings, but I just haven't had the time to post. I hope you'll hang in there until my life gets back to normal. I do miss you all!
Friday- ergo...... This one from our "Hippie Chick" ;-)
Subject: elevator conversation
Four guys and a woman are stuck in an elevator.
While they are stuck, they strike up a conversation.
The first guy says, "I'm a Y.U.P.P.I.E. , you know...
''Young, Urban, Professional, Peaceful, Intelligent,
The second guy says, "I'm a D.I.N.K.Y., you know...
''Double Income, No Kids Yet. "
The third guy says, "I'm a R.U.B., you know...
''Rich, Urban, Biker. "
The fourth guy says, I am a D.I.L.D.O., you know...
''Double Income, Little Dog Owner.''
They turn to the woman and ask her.
''What are you?''
She replies: "I'm a WIFE, you know...
Wash, Iron, Fuck, Etc.'
( Ain't it the truth??!!)
I promise- I'll be here sometime this weekend! Hopefully with some pictures from my new toy- that I haven't had the chance to play with yet!!!!!!
Peace and Love, KC

And I'm working the late shift lol! Oh well, more time to surf this morning. And I'm meeting Devon for lunch so all around ok day.
I did find out something yesterday that has me a bit miffed. Apparently, one of our senior techs is leaving. Her hubby has been transferred to a new job and they will be moving probably by the end of the month. I'm sorry to see her go- she and I got along well. But that's not what has me disturbed. "They" ( who this "they" is- I don't know!) have decided to bring in another girl to be senior tech?! And once again- KC is overlooked. Not one person mentioned it to me, or offered the job to me. I'm beginning to feel like the bastard, redheaded ( sorry Kim!) stepchild! 23 years with this company- you'd think it would count for something? But no- once again, that's proved not to be the case!
I'd leave if I could. Hell, I could get a job anywhere with my credentials! But leaving now, with only 2 years left until I can be guaranteed my retirement would be a stupid maneuver for me. But I'm seriously considering transferring to another store. The only ones left from the "old" crew are the 2 Julies. And little Julie graduates from nursing school in May- so she'll be gone then. I know Pharmacist Julie has be contemplating transfering. If she goes- I'm leaving as well. I think the only people who will miss me are the customers, and Mr. P. The rest could give a crap! I know change is inevitable, but sometimes it really does SUCK!
Well, I'm done ranting about that! Goodness knows, you all have heard it before. Maybe it's just the weather down here. I swear, we've had nothing but clouds and drizzle for a couple of weeks! What I need is a few days off to work outside in the garden. Get my hands in the dirt and connect with Mother Nature. That would turn me around! I was out there a couple of days ago- and there's a Broccoli plant trying to make it's way up amongst the weeds! Bless it! I think I'll try to put that on the agenda for this weekend. Provided I can get some clear weather to do it in!
Well, back to our regularly scheduled stuff: Your Friday Funnies!!!!!
One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his Sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?"
"It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?"
He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma."
And they say blondes are dumb...
A couple is lying in bed. The man says, "I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world." The woman replies, "I'll miss you..."
"It's just too hot to wear clothes today," Jack says as he stepped out of the shower, "honey, what do you think the neighbors would think if I mowed the lawn like this?"
"Probably that I married you for your money," she replied.
He said - Shall we try swapping positions tonight? She said - That's a good idea... you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa and fart.
Q: What do you call an intelligent, good looking, sensitive man?
A: A rumor
A man and his wife, now in their 60's, were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special day a good fairy came to them and said that because they had been so good that each one of them could have one wish. The wife wished for a trip around the world with her husband.
Whoosh! Immediately she had airline/cruise tickets in her hands.
The man wished for a female companion 30 years younger... Whoosh...immediately he turned ninety!!! Gotta love that fairy!
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength,
I'll beat him to death.
Q: Why do little boys whine?
A: They are practicing to be men.
Q: What do you call a handcuffed man?
Q: What does it mean when a man is in your bed gasping for breath and calling your name?
A: You did not hold the pillow down long enough.
Q: Why do female black widow spiders kill their males after mating?
A: To stop the snoring before it starts.
Q: What is the difference between men and women?
A: A woman wants one man to satisfy her every need. A man wants every woman to satisfy his one need.
Q: How do you keep your husband from reading your e-mail?
A: Rename the mail folder "Instruction Manuals"
Well, I hope those gave you your weekly giggles!
Take care, and have a great weekend!
Peace and Love, KC!

Me and "some old guy"- Christmas 2006 ( hehehehe!)
I'd say I'm sorry I haven't posted in over a week, but I'm not. I just had so many things going on, that it was better just to leave this place alone for a while. Let me explain......
Christmas weekend was one LONG one! Between wrapping, cooking and general running around for last minute stuff ( you know- I didn't get enough for X- too much for Y type crap) I was virtually exhausted come Monday. But we had a good day, although Mother Nature saw fit to screw with even the best-laid plans. Instead of a "White Christmas" ( which would have been a novelty down here!) we had a front come through. Which was accompanied by tornados, hail, and assorted fun stuff.
This is the "aftermath". Really, it wasn't as bad here as in elsewhere in the state, but it caused us to leave my Mom's house a little earlier than planned. You all have seen the pictures from my "river BIL's" house, and the big causeway bridge near there. Well we had to travel over that to get from Mom's house to his on Christmas. With the tornado warnings as such, we wanted to get over it before the storm hit. I didn't want to try and drive over it in 60+ mph winds! But it came through and we were fine ( no pun intended!)
Tuesday, one of the interns that was slated to fill in at various stores apparently went to work ( not at our store- at one nearby) a little worse for wear. Actually, she was drunk! So after she was fired ( DUH- who wants a drunk filling their rx's????) I found myself working a few more days than I was originally scheduled. So between that, cleaning up after the Christmas chaos, and just trying to unwind- I've been MIA around the www. But hopefully, that's all in the past and I can pick up where we all left off. I've been feeling a little like this though:
(one of the few pictures I can get of her- she SOOO hates cameras!)
Actually- if you'll notice- my pictures are pretty good. That's because "Santa hubby" got me my Canon! Powershot S3-IS. God- is this thing cool or what? I can be tired, shaky, and holding it in one hand- and still pull off a great shot! Even people who admit to being horrible at taking pictures used it ( as seen by the first pic in my post!) can't miss with this one! It's not as small as a lot of digitals, but in a way that works for me. It has a hand grip that is easy for my old self, and so many settings it may take me years to figure it all out! I will be experimenting on it soon though because.....
I've learned recently that Journey is playing in Clearwater, Fl. in Febuary. And I'm GOING! I don't care what I have to do. I'm meeting up with a few people from Melodic rock ( some of which you all know- "Ratgirl" and Melissa are 2 of them!). I'll test my "new toy" out then. THP- Look out!
We're also getting the house Wi-Fi'ed tomorrow. And I'm planning on getting another desktop here sometime in the next couple of weeks. So I should have a bit more internet access coming here soon. 5 people and 1 computer is coming to mean MAJOR fights- and I'm so over that! One thing though that I don't quite know- If we're all Wi-Fi'ed, can I access stuff on computer A, on Computer B? Or will I have to upload/download stuff from one to the other? I ask because both Andy and Becky got new I-pods from Mom, and I want to "spread out" the I-tunes. She got her Laptop, and wants to move her stuff to her computer, which right now is on here. And I want Andy to put his on the new desktop. I'm hoping to spread out load, so to speak. So anyone who can explain all that- HELP!
Well, I'm looking at the clock, and I'm due into work here in about an hour. So I'd better get my happy butt in gear! I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks. January is when *most* insurances change things, and most DON'T warn anyone ahead of time. New cards not in, new billing procedures, new co-pays- and guess who get's to play "Anger that patient"??? Yup! And of course, the phone lines will be tied up for hours. Yes, I *love* January. "Hell on Earth Month" they ought to call it!
When's that concert again???????????
Peace and Love,
