One long- arsed weekend!

And me just shot. I don't what it is with me lately. I just don't have any energy. By the time I'm done working, all I can think about is to just sit down and relax. I'm not even getting some of the housework done. Not that my home is a complete mess, but it's been better. I just seem to be keeping up with the "necessities", and not doing alot of stuff that really should get done. BLAH!
I had more energy while I was on Chemo for goodness sake! And since I work straight through to Weds. ( worked yesterday) I don't see any energy coming to me soon. Hopefully I'll come out of my rut come next weekend- I have a "date" with some good looking Brits

Well, Becky's project got done. And as I predicted, it took a whooping hour to do it! ( I love Google Earth!!) And she's gotten most of her afore mentioned stuff back. But her TV apparently has decided to die on us. Along with our microwave oven. And this computer tower is starting to make grinding noises.....

SOOO- as all of this is happening, along with the season, I'm officially on a tight budget. No more buying my lunch, no taking the kids out for Saturday brunch- NADA! I will have to buy replacements for at least 2 of the above. And I had fully intended to get at least another desktop for the livingroom for the family for X-mas. I'm not going through any more " computer-emergencies" in this house again! Not to mention all the stuff the kids want from "Santa" this year. Jeez- they think I'm made of money- Wii's , laptops, computer games, more/bigger/better I-pods! Crap, even Kimmie wants stuff that is expensive! I've warned them all- if their list keep getting this expensive- the piles on Christmas morning are going to be more like little bumps! But I'd rather buy 2-3 really good/appreciated gifts, than a whole pile of "whatever's" that will only see the light of day on Christmas morning! So my last official "just for fun" thing this season will be the DL/Journey concert this weekend. Which, the more I think about it- the better I feel.

Heck, if the guys can't get this old rear of mine in gear- Who can?

Unless Hubby comes up with 6 REALLY good numbers Then all bets are off!!!!

So have a good week all! I'll probably be back here Weds or Thursday!
Peace and Love to all! KC!

Well, Almost got it all done ;-)

Got most of the house cleaned, all except the bathrooms ( Rhonda, were you reading my mind.....LOL!) But that can wait for tomorrow I guess.

This morning I had a really big blow-out with Becky. It seems that she has a project that's due Friday that she really hasn't started yet, but that counts as a large chunk of her grade. Which is ok- we could get it done in an hour or two. But she hits me with it this morning around 7:30am, and suddenly she can't go to school??? Not so much can't but won't. She refused, even when I took away the keyboard/mouse here, her I-pod, stereo cord, cable TV cord, yada, yada, yada. And I told her that they would be gone indefinately ( well, all but the keyboard and mouse). She's still here, probably waiting for me to get off to go to work.
She'd've had plenty of time to do this project this evening, as well as tomorrow evening. Her dad could have helped her, or I could when I got home tomorrow ( I work until 10pm tonight- so that's out!) But no- she had to pull this shit on me. And she's just too big to physically drag out to the car/bus stop. So what was I supposed to do? She pulls this every once in a while. Just up and decides not to go to school. I've threatened her, pleaded with her- and no go. SO what am I to do? Any ideas? She's now blown her chance to go to the concert ( or any concert for that matter- there was one coming in Dec. that I was thinking of taking her to, but not now!) I hate to think she enjoys doing this to me, but what else can I think?

Help?

Peace ( don't I wish!) KC

I will post more tomorrow

But I have 2 weeks worth of laundry, vacuuming, dusting and such to do today.
And I suppose about that much catching up on the web. So bear with me while I get all our "ducks back in a row" here at this Fine household ( pun intended!)

I'll be back in the morning with my usual silly stuff ;-)

Peace and Love, KC!

So, We left around 10 am.....

on Weds. We hoped to at least get 1/2 way there that day, with the hopes that we would reach Altoona by nightfall Thursday. Which we did ( barely!). One of the first problems was the "hotel" situation. Mom refused to get just any hotel- it had to be cheap! And I insisted on secure ( 2 women, traveling alone in a strange area- I was not sticking my neck out!) Our first night was spent just south of Charlotte, NC.

We made it to Altoona around 5 pm the next day. Well, actually Williamsburg- which is a small town right near Altoona. It's where my cousin and her husband live. It's a cool set-up; about 100 years ago, a group of 10 hunters bought this mountain ( yes- you read it right- MOUNTAIN!) outside of Altoona. They own the land, have their own reservoir, roads, everything. The "cabins" have turned into houses, and 10 families/couples own the whole lot. The houses sit about a third of the way up the mountain, and the views are just breathtaking:

Rae's house- built originally before 1900 I think. But her husband has done some MAJOR renovations. It's like a country cottage- a dream house IMHO!

View from the front porch- Killer, no?

View from the back yard. For a person living in flat, barren Florida- the view just blew my mind. I spent a lot of time outside just looking and listening to the land. ( well, as much as I could, concidering it was 30-40 degrees outside while we were there!)

First problem was ( as I mentioned above) was the cold! I have very few "warm" clothes. Don't really need them here, as we get "cold" weather about 3 days a year! And as my cousin had mentioned that it was 70+ degrees the day we left, I had packed T-shirts and jeans. Well, I spent most of the time there in borrowed coats/sweaters! Whoever said " Mother Nature is a bitch" wasn't kidding!

The second was the funeral itself. I'm sure they would have had is sooner ( possibly Friday/Saturday), but Penn State was hosting Michigan in a home game and there wasn't a hotel room to be had for 50 miles!!! So they had to "bump" the funeral to Sunday/Monday. No one would be able to attend if they couldn't get a room! I had contacted a mutual friend of ours, and he had Sunday off. So I was in constant negotiations with my family to get an hour or two free Sunday morning ( his day off!)to go visit. But with everyone coming in- it wasn't to be. That pissed me off big-time. I had hoped for a little "relief" in all that familial chaos. I know Mom was having a rough time of it, but I had hoped for a little respite from it. All I can say to Michael is " Next time- and there WILL be a next time!"

The wake/funeral itself was as good as these things can be. Got to catch up with family I hadn't seen in years ( about 20+ to be exact!) But the one thing I got a little peeved about was some of my cousins bringing up the fact that my Mom is "the Last" of her generation alive. AS IF she was not fully aware of that fact! Shit- she's there, burying her LAST sibling( out of 5 that survived to adulthood), the sister she was closest to, and they had to bring that up??? How about some salt for the wound guys!? Of course, I couldn't say anything with a priest there- but it was a close thing. I'm not one to cause a stir ( you all know this about me) but I just about went off on some of them! And then we heard of an "ex-aunt" that was thinking of attending. She is persona-non-grata with the family ( though her kids are OK). I was kind-of hoping she'd show up- just so I could vent! But thankfully she didn't.

Come to Tuesday, and we left before 7am. Drove 12 hours and managed to make it to the coast of SC. Spent Weds finishing the run, and got home around 1 pm. Walked into the house and saw- "THE MESS"! Jon had managed to have the kids pick up the livingroom floor, but the tables, bedrooms and bathrooms looked like a war-zone! So much for me leaving again anytime soon! I was too tired to do anything about it though- all I could think of was sleep! ( did I mention I did ALL of the driving? Yup- me, myself and I were the only ones at the wheel through all this) Worked all day yesterday, and will put in another shift today. Saturday will be soon enough to power-clean this place. I just don't have the energy to deal with it yet. Not to say I haven't done some- but not enough to call this place "right" again. And I'm scheduled to work Sunday, so I've got my work cut out for me here!

Not a trip I'd want to repeat anytime soon, but it was interesting nontheless. Oh, and I made a friend while I was there:

Jasper, AKA Jazzy P. He's a real charactor, and kept me company on my trips outside. He also liked to come downstairs at 3 am and play with me ( I slept on the couch in the livingroom- my Mom SNORES! ;-) ). Cute little bugger, isn't he?

Well, nothing much else to report. But jeez- isn't it Friday???

I'm still here

Although I probably won't be back here until Tuesday or Weds. Today is the viewing, with tomorrow the actual funeral. The rest of the family came in last night so the remainder of my time here will be filled up with them. Which sucks because I HAD planned on driving over to Tyrone this morning to visit a certain friend of ours ;-). But that has been pretty much shot down with all the other "family" obligations. So Michael, if your reading- I'll call you later this morning. But I'm not gonna make lunch- *insert stomping foot smilie here*. Sorry!!!!!! :(

I had hoped to get on the road back home after the funeral tomorrow. Maybe get in 5-6 good hours of driving. But Mom is insisting that we not leave until early Tuesday morning. She doesn't want to "rush" this. But I don't want to drive all day Weds, and then have to jump back into work Thursday. But I guess I'll have no choice. Shoot- I called work yesterday, just to let them know when I'd be back, and Mr, P. wasn't in. So I don't even know what my schedule is this coming week, even if they'd changed it. ( I was originally scheduled off on Thursday). Guess I'll find out tomorrow or when I get back. I can't keep calling long-distance and not getting anyone in charge.

So I hope you all are having a good weekend. I'll be back as soon as I can

Love and Peace, KC

I'm FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's 30 degrees out here in sunny Pa, with a high expected in the 40's.

WTF was I thinking coming up here. I know- the funeral. But Christ on a crutch! I'm sorry, but to go from 90 degree weather to THIS is a bit of a shock to the system. And concidering I have nothing in the way of cold-weather clothes- I'm up a creek here ( actually, I'm half-way up a mountain side, but y'all get my drift!)and I may have to find time to go shopping to get something warm to wear.

Anyway- it looks like the funeral will be Monday. Mom and I have yet to decide whether we're leaving immediately after, or waiting until Tuesday morning. I don't want to push my luck with work, but I don't want to kill myself driving home. I'm still tired from the trip up, it took me 2 days of driving 8 hours each day ( NO Mom did not help!) But she did say she'd help drive on the way down, so we'll see. At least there is a computer here, and unlimited long-distance on the phones. So I'm calling the kids/hubby 2-3 times a day to keep up with everything.

After all this though- I'm really thinking about getting a laptop. Would make life alot eastier!!!

Well, off to get some tea to warm up. I'll be back as I can.
Michael- keep your phone on!!

Peace and Love, KC

Some bad news

It seems that I will be taking a bit of a "vacation" starting tomorrow. My aunt- who had heart surgery yesterday- is dying. She is being kept alive by machines at this point, and it is up to her husband and kids as to when the final end comes. So Mom and I are leaving tomorrow to go to either Virginia, or Pennsylvania. It just depends on where the actual funeral is to take place.

I thank you on their behave for all the prayers and well-wishes. But sometimes, it's just time to leave to better places.

Kim- As much as I'd like to hear it, I don't know where I'll be tomorrow night. And if I'm with the family- I don't think they'd appreciate a call at midnight or later. So don't bother calling me from the show. Just get some good pictures of JTE for me- that will more than suffice.

I will be gone until at least Sunday, since until she's actually gone, the arrangements cannot go forward. But some of you have my cell #= so if anything happens in the meantime- please call me.

Marjorie Yon Martin- 1925- 2006
Rest in peace. I love you Aunt Marge.

Love to all- KC

**update- Weds. 8:30 am*****
She passed from this life about 1/2 hour ago. I will be in Altoona, Pa. for the next week or so. I'll be staying at my cousin's house, and while she does have a computer- I don't know if I will have time to get on there. So call/text me if anything happens while I'm gone.
Peace, KC

A Special Day!

For a special friend:

Happy Birthday Rhonda!!!!!
Hope your Birthday is a good one Sweetie!!!

Well, I found out the other day that Jon is still debating whether or not he wants to go to the concert with me. So since if he doesn't go- I'd have to drive home solo that late at night ( since Becky will go if he doesn't) I'm gonna get a room at the hotel for that night. Even if he comes, I'm going to get him to take that Monday off. I've figured out that it will involve some very late night driving- and that is something I'd just rather avoid if possible. Now let's hope there are still rooms available at the Marriott. I'd hate to have to find someplace else at this point. Especially since it's right there anyway!

Other than that- it's pretty boring around here. I did find out the other day that my hair has finally grown to the point where I can pull it back with barrettes. Which doesn't seem like alot- but it's coming back in so thick, that it's been a bit of a nuisance at work. Falling into my eyes, and such. Hopefully by spring, it will have grown out enough that I can get it "styled" proper, and not look like a sheep-dog!! ( scary visual there- I know ;-) )

Have a great Monday everyone!!!
Peace and Love, KC!

Busy week

But first, look what Darren posted!

My Favorite DL song -- live!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NDNm2jxqPk
(Where Does Love Go When It Dies!!)
I don't know why, but that song just "gets" me. And this is the first live performance of it I've seen.

Well, It's been a pretty busy week, although I had yesterday off. Aside from cleaning though, I didn't get to much else. I had planned on posting here, but I sat down to read, and ended up falling asleep! I guess all that work got to me lol!
Second thing is, my aunt is apparently having heart problems. I literally just got off the phone with my cousin, and she's having surgery today. Seems she has a blockage in her heart, and may have to have a stint or a valve put in-they're not sure at this point . So a few prayers her way wouldn't hurt please! I'm going to have to have my cell on at work, to get the news, and then pass it on to my Mom. She can't have hers, and it's her sister !!( IDIOT BOSS of hers!) My boss, on the other hand ( having had his Dad's heart problems this past 2 weeks!) Will TOTALLY understand.

On a more pleasant front- Jon has not yet decided whether he's going with me or not. He's not opposed to it, but it IS on a Sunday night. And while my co-workers are cool with giving me either Monday off, or the late shift- Jon has no choice but to be in work at 7am on Mondays. So he's just trying to decide if he wants to go to work after being up to probably 1 or 2 am! Can't blame him- and Becky is more than willing ;-) to step in if he backs out. That's right- my 16 yr old daughter; she who "poo-pooed" DL for many a year, wants to see them again! She apparently is getting some better taste in music as she ages lol! And Andy is saying that it's only fair, since he's seen them 3 times already. So there is no problems for me on that front- THANK GOODNESS!

Well, it's time for that traditional "end-of-the-week" favorite: Your Friday Funnie! This one comes from our very own "Hippy Chick"- Jude!:
........................................................

A redneck family from the hills was visiting the
city and they were in a mall for the first time in
their lives. The father and son were strolling around while the
wife shopped. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but
especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide
back together again. The boy asked, "Paw, what's at?"

The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, "Son, I
dunno. I ain't never seen anything like that in my entire life, I ain't got no idea'r what it is."

While the boy and his father were watching with
amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair rolled up
to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls
opened and the lady rolled between them into a small
room. The walls closed and the boy and his father
watched the small circular number above the walls
light up sequentially.

They continued to watch until it reached the last
number and then the numbers began to light in the
reverse order. The the walls opened up again and a
gorgeous, voluptuous 24 year-old blonde woman stepped out.

The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly
to his son,
"Boy..................go gitcha momma...............
...............................................(HARHARHAR).....................
and this one from my roomie Janine

FUNERAL PROCESSION

A woman was leaving a convenience store with her morning coffee when she noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery.
A long black hearse was followed by a second long black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary woman walking a pit bull on a leash.
Behind her, a short distance back, were about 200 women walking single file.
The woman was so curious that she respectfully approached the woman walking the dog and said, "I am so sorry for your loss, and I know now is a bad time to disturb you, but I have never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?"
"My ex-husband's."
"What happened to him?"
The woman replied, "My dog attacked and killed him."
She inquired further, "Well, who is in the second hearse?"
The woman answered, "My ex-mother-in-law. She was trying to help my ex-husband when the dog turned on her."

A poignant and thoughtful moment of silence passed between the two women.
Then the inquisitive woman asked..."Can I borrow the dog?"

The widow replied......."Get in line."
...............................................................

Well, I'd better get going. I have to check up with you all, get ready for work and deal with the lunatics that abound this week. You know-

Rhonda is right! There is a full moon Saturday, and we've had the nut-cases in our store all week. Unfortunately for me- mine are mostly the "drug-addict" types. I've managed to get 2 patients dropped by their Dr.s, and one guy arrested in this ONE WEEK! Can't wait to see what tonight is gonna be like- NOT!

See you all real soon,
Peace and Love, KC!

Wonders never cease!

Well, we had a lovely time over at the BIL's yesterday. But unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures. You see, some things happened that threw me off entirely....

As we arrived, we went out onto the porch to find one of the regular guests, whom I'll call "R". He apparently works for a hotel development/management company, and is pretty high up the ladder. He also is a rock fan, and we've talked several times about our favorite bands/music. First thing he said to me was " Got your DL tickets?" To which of course I smiled and said "Hell yeah!" He explained that he hadn't gotten his yet, but that he would buy them later that evening. "R" said it would be a great time, yada, yada, yada.

Since he's well acquainted with the whole Orlando area, I asked him where would be a good place to have a "pre-show meet-up" with the rest of the fans. He told me about a Marriott which is literally right across the street from the venue. Fair enough, but then "R" proceeded to tell me that it would be a good idea for me to park at the hotel ( in the valet parking) rather than at the Waterhouse. It would be easier to get in and out after the show. I thanked him for the insight. Then he reached into his wallet- AND GAVE ME HIS PARKING PASS! Which means I get valet parking for free- and a prime parking space!!!!!! WOO HOOO! No fighting the traffic, and a safe place for my car! And I only know this guy because he goes to the BIL's parties. Really blew my mind- I'll have to buy him a drink at the hotel when he and his fiance get there!

Onward to "blow" #2. Now, you all know about my hubby's "lack" of enthusiasm for all things Lep. How I took him to the show last year, and it was less than a good time. Well, while "R" and I were talking, Jon came over and sat down. I hadn't exactly told Jon about the tickets yet- I planned on doing that last night ( after he'd had a beer or two ;-)! Well, when "R" asked who was coming with me, I told him I hadn't decided yet ( which I hadn't!) and Jon said- "I'd like to go"---WTF???? I must have looked like I'd been smacked in the face- "R" was laughing at me, asking why I would be so shocked? Well, Long story short, I guess Jon's coming with me this time. Scary times my friends- scary! I only hope he loosens up this time, or I'll probably need bail monies-
Any volunteers???

Well, that's it. Am I crazy? Should I let someone else go- or give Jon another chance? I would dearly love for him to at least enjoy himself. I don't expect miracles, but I don't want to set myself up for a lousy evening either. *SIGH*
What would you all do in my place????

Peace, Love, and some ENLIGHTENMENT! ( please!)
KC!
