It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas....
Well, in my world anyway. I'm sitting here with a jacket on, having tried to thaw my hands out enough to type. I know- it's not THAT cold ( around 50 degrees at the moment). But having been running around in shorts a day ago- It's cold for me damnit! It got down to 42 last night, and the house just doesn't want to warm up. Well, at least it isn't 80+ any more....
Mom's doing ok. She actually called me yesterday about the football game ( Steelers/Jags- which meant we could actually WATCH!) and made no complaints/whines/questions. Sounded just like her "old-self" actually. She couldn't have her Chemo last week, her white blood cell count was down. And since she can't take the Neulasta, she has to have time for them to build back up. So she goes for #3 this Weds (hopefully!). She's wearing her wig now, which means she's probably lost most if not all of her hair. I didn't have the guts to ask her to see, but I will when I go over on Weds.
Me, I'm just hanging in there. I do have too much left on my plate right now. I've yet to get my X-Mas cards finished (so if they are late- I apologise in advance!). And because of some "financial" set-backs, I have not even STARTED my Christmas shopping! Having to replace both my dishwasher AND my clothes dryer in one month's time has put a hurting on the bank account. What really sucks about that is that darn dryer wasn't even 2 years old!!!! But the heating element died for the second time- and I just couldn't see spending another $100 to get it fixed again. Even the repair guy that I use said that it must have some sort of wiring flaw ( re: LEMON!) and I would be better off just getting a new one. So I'm just hoping that Jon gets a good paycheck today ( and his Christmas bonus check!) so that I can hit the stores big-time this week. Otherwise, the kids are going to think that Santa skipped the neighborhood this year.
I'm not working Christmas ( YEAH!), and I even have a 3-day weekend coming up. I'll have to work Christmas eve, but since the pharmacy closes at 5pm. it's no biggie as far as I'm concerned. I'll be working New Year's day though, but I always volunteer for that one. I never go out on NYE, and since all the rest of the staff are young, I figure they will probably need the day off to recoup. The only thing I don't like about working NYD is that there are tons of insurance problems, and no way to do anything about them. And the customers are always a PITA about it. "But I haven't gotten my card yet!?", "What do you mean it's not working??" "Can't you call them to find out?" - Yea stupid- like any one's working on New Year's day???? Oh that's right- I am * insert rolling-eyes smilie here*. Not looking forward to it, except that it's extra money on the paycheck!
That's all I have for right now. I've got to get back to the cards. Or clean the living room. Or that load of towels that's on the bathroom floor...........
Love and Peace, KC!
